The State of Florida Jefferson County For and in consideration of the sum sixteen and a half dollars per month to be paid at the end of the year by John J. Bradley to the undersigned, he hereby contracts and agrees to remain in the service of said John J. Bradley for one year from first of January 1887 in the capacity of cook and as such, to perform all work usually done in that capacity and to obey all orders of John J. Bradley and to be orderly and respectful in deportment and behavior and it is agreed that for any violation of this contract on the part of said undersigned, it shall be [lawful] for said John J. Bradley to discharge him from his service paying him for time served only then at expiration of the year. Said JJ Bradley further agrees to pay an advance to said undersigned at the expiration of every month, four dollars and fifty cents ($4.50) witness said amount to be deducted from wages at the end.
