State of Florida Jefferson County Agreement made and entered into this first day of January A.D. 1867, between James W. Hill of the first part, and the following named freed men & women: Charles Cloud, Ben Law, Tom Glover, Jerry Goodlet, Albert Cloud, Harclus [blank], Daniel Law, Dick Law, Pinkey Cloud, Edny & Caroline Cloud, Sarah Ann Goodlet, Sib Law, & Sarah Cloud, & Cinda Goodlet. [Witnesseth], that the aforesaid freed men & women agree, & bind themselves to live with, & work for the aforesaid James W. Hill, for, & during the year eighteen hundred and sixty-seven. That they will labor faithfully & diligently. That they will obey all orders [emanating] from him, either personally, or through his agent. That they have hired to the said James W. Hill all of their time, & will not absent themselves from their work without [permission] from their said employer. The aforesaid freed men & women agree and bind themselves to be respectful & obedient both to their employer & his agent. They further agree that in case of disobedience of [Crossed out word: his] orders, disrespect, or any other improper conduct on the part of the employees or any one of them, they shall be subject to [dismissal] or discharge from the employ of the aforesaid James W. Hill, at the discretion of said Hill.

James W. Hill of the first part agrees & binds himself on or before the first day of January, 1868, to pay over to the aforesaid freed people of the second part, one third of all the crop which they make. He also agrees to feed them, allowing each one 3 lbs. of meat & 1 peck of meal or its equivalent per week. If the employees are absent from work from sickness or any other cause over 6 days, their rations shall cease, & for every lost day except in case of sickness or permission from their employer, they shall be charged at the discretion of the said James W.
