Agreement entered into between R.D. Johnson and the freedmen upon his plantation for the year 1867. This agreement entered into this between R.D. Johnson of Jefferson County, State of Florida, of the one part; Hinston Johnson, his father, Len Pane, James Pane, Cealie Pane, John Allman, Tobe Allman [To be half hand], Cathrine Johnson, Peter Thompson, Ben Hutchison, his son, Squire, daughters Antonia and Josie, Bob and Susan and Sam Johnson, Antney Stokes, Wade Ritchey, William Boman. Catherine and Cealie 2 thirds of a share each and of the other part, witnesseth: That the said laborers are to work together jointly [‘til] the plantation is repaired and made ready for planting. At which time they will divide the land and hands and work in two separate companies, one headed by Hinston Johnson and the other by Ben Hutchison, and each company shall draw one third of the crop made by them. They also agree to work jointly together at all work pertaining to the repairs and keeping up of the plantation during the year. Each [Crossed out original word: party] company of laborers shall have an interest in one third part of all the pork made on the plantation, to be divided as the crops are. In consideration of which they are to work kindly and faithfully the usual number of hours each of the six days of the week, and to obey all orders given them by the said R.D. Johnson and in no case make use

of the mules or other movable property on the place without his direct permission. It shall be the duty of all the laborers at all times to take proper care of the crop plantation tools, and farming implements. [Crossed out sentence: If any of the laborers shall prove refractory and refuse to comply with the above agreement they may be immediately discharged and shall forfeit all their interest in the said crops and all claims to remuneration of any kind.] All lost time is to [be] charged at fifty cents per day and the laborers are to receive one half of it.
