State Florida Jefferson County This Agreement, made and entered into this the 10th day of January, eighteen-hundred and sixty-seven. Witnesseth that R. Davis Johnson, a planter of the county aforesaid, party of the first part and Jesse Kelly, Martin Coyl, Harry McLeod, freedmen of the second part: The party of the first part hereby agrees and contracts to furnish said freedmen stock necessary to work all lands that may be assigned them, to furnish provender for said stock. Said freedmen to return said R. Davis Johnson seventy-five bushels corn, and half of the amount of fodder that may be used, they further agree to pay (15) fifteen dollars, out of their part for the use of all tools used on the place. Said freedmen further agree to work under the superintendence of said R.D. Johnson, to obey all orders coming from him,

work diligently, continuously, and skillfully, in the preparations, planting, harvesting, and preparing any and all crops that may be made on said lands. All lost time to be charged for at fifty cents per day, one half to be paid to the first party and the second half to be divided between the second party. Said freedmen further promise and agree to take good care of the stock when not used in the farm and not to use them for any purpose whatever outside of the farm, except by consent of the first party. Said freedmen are to receive one half of all crops made by them on said place, to be furnished house room, said freedmen further contract and agree to be responsible for all damage arising from their fault or mismanagement or the fault or mismanagement of any one of them. All fruit on the place reserved for the use of the first party. In witness whereof we have hereunto set our hand and affixed our seal the day and date aforementioned. Attest J.K. Long R.D.
