State of Florida County of Jefferson The agreement made and entered into this 11th day of March 1867 between Thomas F. Johnson and the Freedmen whose names are signed below. Witnesseth that the party of the second part, the freedmen, bind themselves to labor on the Plantation of said Johnson in the county & state above named during the present year until Dec 25th 1867 to labor faithfully and truly at any kind of plantation labor under the directions of said Johnson or his agent, they are to be in the field at sunrise and quit the same at sundown, taking ½ an hour for breakfast & (1 ½) one and a half hours for dinner in the spring and fall - and (2 ½) two and a half hours in the summer time - and for all time lost by wilfulness or without the consent of said Johnson fifty cents per day shall be deducted - said money to be divided as follows - ⅔ to said Johnson & the remainder amongst the laborers - if any mule or tool is injured or destroyed by the carelessness or wilfulness of any of said laborers the same to be paid for at its full value to said Johnson - said Johnson is to furnish land, teams & tools - and feed the teams - said freedmen are to take good care of said teams - Sundays and holidays & all other times - and in consideration of said services so to be performed said Johnson binds himself to turn over to them the freedmen - one third of the entire crops raised and fathered by said freedmen and to give them (3 ½) three and a half pounds of bacon and one peck of meal to the hand per week and field & houses for said laborers - If any differences shall

arise on account of this contract which they cannot mutually settle, the same to be submitted to a Board of Arbitration composed of two reliable citizens and the Agent of the B.R.F. & A.L. whose decision shall be final.
