This agreement made this the 12th day of January in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and sixty-seven, between L. M. C. Sessions of the one part and the Freedmen whose names are hereunto annexed of the second part.
Witnesseth that the said Freedmen of the second part agree to cultivate the land belonging to the said Sessions to the best of their ability, except ten acres which the said Sessions agrees to cultivate himself and for himself.
L. M. C. Sessions of the first part further agrees to furnish the said Freedmen for one year: team, ploughs and feed for team, and all other implements necessary for farming purposes, and at the end of the year (1867) to give the said Freedmen one third of everything raised on the place by them and half of the increase of one good brood sow. The Freedmen further agree not to mistreat the stock and property of the said Sessions and to keep good order on and about the place.

It is further agreed that should any differences arise between the parties to this contract which shall not be mutually settled between them, they shall be submitted to a board of arbitration composed of two reliable citizens, one selected by each of the contracting parties, and the officer of the B. R. F. & A. L., whose decision shall be final.
