January the 11, 67 State of Florida County of Jefferson Articles of agreement entered into by Wm. Taylor on the first part and freedman on the second part. Said Wm. Taylor on the first part agrees to furnish land and the team and to bear all expenses and to give the said Gabral Teet and Fanney Monroe and Frances Taylor the fourth of the crops that they make and gather, and also they bind themselves to be obedient and to plant and work said crops to Wm. Taylor’s orders. They also bind themselves to do faithful work for said Wm. Taylor each day excepting Sunday. They also bind themselves to take special care of all stock said Wm. Taylor may put in their hands for to work said crops with & they also bind themselves to put said plantation in good farming order and good farming around the plantation. They also bind themselves that if they don’t do their duty according to contract they are by themselves liable to be discharged. The undersigned freedmen bind themselves to work from the first of January 1867 to the 25th December this year. Said Taylor also binds himself to the said above named laborers - 3 ½ pounds of meat & one peck of meal per hand per week. And if any differences should arise on account of this contract not mutually settled, the same to be submitted to a Board of Arbitration composed of two reliable citizens and the agent of the B.R.F. & A.L. whose decision shall be final.
