25 April 1960
Dearest Pat,
Please forgive me for not writing, I wanted to see what you said in your first letter that had you so worried. Pat, I love you and, if you will have me, I want to marry you. I forgive you Pat, do you forgive me?
I arrived home on Wed. 20 April, early in the morning. Even though I enjoyed being home, I wanted all the time to be with you. Uncle Sam and Aunt Lennie are fine and were very glad to hear all I had to say about you students activities. They are looking forward to seeing you this summer. I hope you will be able to come up.
I've got some bad news, we are going back to northern Europe in June. I don't know how, but I'm going to try to see you before we leave. I've got to see you before we leave.
I did a little showing off while I was home, and learned a quick lesson. I tore a tendon in my shoulder. I was trying tot show my high jumping skill and found the pit a little too hard for my liking. it, my shoulder, feels a lot better now but it sure hurt for a while.
I need you pat. Without you I have no drive, no ambition. Don't break my heart by saying no!
Write soon and often
All my love,
[Signature] Irving
PS What is your ring size (For future reference), and try to find me a picture of you!
