Camp Blanding IRTC Handbook
This lesson examines a handbook given to soldiers at Camp Blanding when it was an Infantry Replacement Training Center (IRTC) during World War II. The handbook contains a detailed description of the services and facilities available to soldiers, expectations for their conduct and other vital information.
"Wakulla Springs and WWII Troop Maneuvers" Film
The military used Wakulla Springs, located south of Tallahassee, to conduct training for troops expected to see combat in the wetlands and jungles of Southeast Asia. This lesson examines silent film footage of Army troops practicing for amphibious landings and learning to operate and handle their equipment while partially submerged in water.
