of the farm, and should any one of us fail to perform the duties assigned us, or a proper share thereof or behave improperly the party agrees to be discharged from the place [crossed out: without pay] and forfeit so much of his wages as a board of arbitration shall determine. We will not make or encourage unusual assemblages of freedmen upon the premises of the said employer. We further agree that a record of all lost time, either by sickness or otherwise, may be kept & a deduction shall be made for such lost time, according to the injury sustained by the farm for such loss, said money to be divided same as the crops. We agree and bind ourselves to make all the rails necessary for the repairs of said farm during this year, & to inspect, fix, & repair the fencing according to the necessity & by the direction of the said Wm. Lord. We have further agreed to cut & harvest all the oats sown by our employer, if they do not amount to over twelve acres. I, the said Wm. Lord for & and in consideration of a true and faithful performance of all and singular the before mentioned stipulations agree to pay them one third of the crop made by them, and to furnish the team necessary for the cultivation, & feed the same, to furnish plows, hoes, axes, etc. The said hands to feed themselves and do the labor & all provisions furnished them to be charged at the customary prices when sold.
