State of Florida County of Jefferson This agreement entered into 25th day of January 1867, A.D. between C.B. Magruder of the 1st part to Edmond Porter of 2nd part showeth that the said C.B. Magruder on his part does agree to furnish lands & teams & feed for team for making a crop, also agrees to furnish said Edmond Porter three lbs of meat & one peck of corn per week while engaged on said farm. 2nd, said C.B. Magruder further agrees to divide with said Edmond Porter his proportionate part of the crop made by himself & the hands engaged with him at the rates of one-third of the crop made or gathered by said hands. And the said Edmond Porter on his part agrees & contracts with the said C.B. Magruder to do & perform all the work usually done on a plantation as the said C.B. Magruder or agent may direct, giving strict obedience

to the same - & further contract to faithfully, honestly & diligently apply himself to any kind of work as directed from daylight till dark with the accustomed hours for meals allowed & for lost time. Said Edmond Porter is to furnish the proper amount of work or have a deduction of 50 cts per day from his wages & for gross neglect or violation of the above agreements C.B. Magruder shall have the right to discharge, eject from service without compensation for previous service if approved by Freedman’s Bureau & should the condition of the crop require extra help said Edmond Porter is to pay his proportionate part of the hire with the other hands engaged with him and further obligates to advance the interest of his employer in every way in his power, by looking after the general interest of the plantation stock, etc. Signed, sealed & delivered in presence of J.
