and give them one third of the crop, the said party of the second part to feed themselves. And the said parties of the second part, in consideration of the premises, do agree to and with the said party of the first part to proceed to Florida and go to work upon the plantation of the said party of the first part on the first day of January next or as soon thereafter as may be agreed upon and to labor faithfully and diligently during the year 1867; and to respect and obey the orders and directions of the said party of the first part, his agent or representative, and they further agree that they will repay the said party of the first part the money advanced as herein agreed to pay their expenses from said District and State to the said County of Jefferson out of the proceeds of their years labor as herein agreed. And it is further agreed that in case of lost time a deduction shall be made at the rate of seventy cts per day for the men and fifty cts per day for the women, said money to be divided in the same proportion as the crops between the contracting parties.
